I am a Jew
These last weeks have been exciting and very full, but above all fulfilling. I have not had much time or energy for blogging. But much more is to come in this space soon!
From the slopes of Mt. Ararat (though not the famous one), thoughts on Judaism, Israel, and other topics by a political scientist who finally realized that his answers to how the world works are to be found neither in politics, nor in the science thereof, nor in the religion of his youth. Start scrolling and join me in the search.
Farther down the sidebar is some text about who zed is and links to the monthly archives (for which elementary Hebrew skills--precisely the kind of Hebrew skills I have--will be helpful).
A professor of political science who is less and less concerned about anonymity than when he started ARARAT SCROLLS, but who still prefers not to have his real name displayed too prominently. Until Tammmuz, 5767, I was going by "zed" in reference to an important political figure in Jewish history who made some unfortunate alliances after which things did not turn out so well--a lesson that is always relevant in the field I study. However, now I am using the Hebrew name that I took upon becoming a Jewish proselyte on 29 Iyyar, 5767. This blog will continue be about my interpretations of Jewish living and my perspectives on the nexus between left-libertarian (green) politics and progressive Judaism, as well as commentary on political events relevant to Israel and Jews, and whatever else is on my mind. I suppose the change of blogger ID reelects the fact that this blog is about practically everything from Z to A! (Please note that I have moved the blog off Blogger, so the URL of the hyperlink above is the current one, rather than the one listed at the bottom of the Profile page.)
